Aberdeen / Interview
The Aberdeen interview
Interview by invitation, and it carries significant weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Interview by invitation
Interviews by invitation only for Education, Medicine, and Music applicants; typically conducted on campus or virtually in early spring; not offered for most other programmes.
How to prepare for Aberdeen
- If applying to Medicine or Dentistry, prepare for a structured interview or Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) format , Aberdeen uses these to assess communication, ethical reasoning, and motivation for the profession.
- For Education and Music applicants, the interview assesses subject passion and suitability for the programme, not just academic results , come ready to discuss your practical experience and why Aberdeen specifically.
- Most undergraduate programmes at Aberdeen do not include an interview; your UCAS personal statement and predicted grades carry the full weight of your application, so invest heavily in those.
- Aberdeen considers applications submitted by the 14 January UCAS deadline equally , submitting well before the deadline with a polished personal statement is more impactful than any last-minute scramble.
