Amherst / Interview
The Amherst interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered by Amherst; however, applicants who have completed an InitialView interview may submit it voluntarily.
How to prepare for Amherst
- Amherst does not offer admissions interviews, so focus energy on the essay , the 350-word quotation-response prompt is your primary voice in the application.
- Visit campus or attend a virtual information session to demonstrate genuine interest; Amherst tracks demonstrated interest even without interviews.
- If you have already completed an InitialView interview for other schools, you may submit it to Amherst, but it is not expected or required.
- Secure strong letters of recommendation, as they carry extra weight at a school where there is no interview to supplement the human picture of you.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
