Amsterdam / Interview
The Amsterdam interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered. Selective programmes (PPLE, AUC, Economics, Psychology) use written motivation letters, take-home assignments, and selection tasks submitted via Studielink or programme-specific portals.
How to prepare for Amsterdam
- Invest heavily in the motivation letter for selective programmes , it is the primary way to demonstrate fit, intellectual interest, and why you chose this specific programme at UvA over alternatives.
- Complete any programme-specific selection assignments (e.g. PPLE homework tasks) with care; these carry significant weight and are evaluated by faculty, not admissions officers.
- Apply by the 15 January deadline for numerus fixus programmes , late applications are not reviewed, and there is no rolling admissions for capped programmes.
- Show genuine knowledge of the Dutch academic system and the programme curriculum in your written materials; generic statements about 'studying abroad' read poorly to Amsterdam admissions readers.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
