Brandeis / Interview
The Brandeis interview
Optional interview, and it carries minor weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Optional interview
Optional alumni interview, ~30-45 min, virtual or in your area; arranged after application submission
How to prepare for Brandeis
- Brandeis alumni interviewers are typically enthusiastic about the school's social justice mission and intellectual culture , be prepared to speak genuinely about why these values resonate with you.
- The interview is conversational and evaluative but carries modest weight; focus on articulating your intellectual interests and curiosity rather than rehearsed talking points.
- Interviewers will likely ask what drew you specifically to Brandeis , go beyond rankings and name specific programs, faculty, or the school's founding story if it connects to your interests.
- Not all applicants are contacted for an interview, so if you are offered one, treat it as an opportunity rather than a hurdle , declining or being unprepared sends a subtle negative signal.
