Denison / Interview
The Denison interview
Interview recommended, and it carries moderate weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Interview recommended
Recommended interview with admissions staff or senior students, ~30 min, virtual (Zoom) or on campus; available from junior spring through end of senior fall
How to prepare for Denison
- Denison says the majority of successful applicants complete an interview , treat it as effectively expected, not truly optional.
- Interviews focus on personal qualities, not your resume or achievements; be ready to discuss who you are, how you think, and why Denison fits your goals.
- Schedule early , interviews open in the spring of junior year and must be completed by the end of February senior year, so don't leave it to the last minute.
- Both admission staff and trained senior students conduct interviews; treat either with the same seriousness and engage genuinely rather than rehearsing scripted answers.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
