DePauw / Interview
The DePauw interview
Interview by invitation, and it carries moderate weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Interview by invitation
By-invitation evaluative interview, ~30-45 min, conducted by an admissions representative or senior intern, virtual or on campus
How to prepare for DePauw
- If invited, treat this as a formal evaluative conversation , your responses become part of your application file reviewed by the Admission Committee, so be specific and thoughtful rather than vague.
- Prepare to discuss your academic preparation, extracurricular involvement, and concrete goals for the future; DePauw interviewers are explicitly tasked with assessing fit between your goals and the DePauw experience.
- Research DePauw's distinctive programs (Honor Scholar, Science Research Fellows, Management Fellows, Media Fellows) so you can speak to why this school specifically matches your ambitions.
- If not invited, focus on campus visits, demonstrated interest through the optional supplemental essay, and direct outreach to admissions , there is no self-initiated interview option.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
