Earlham / Interview
The Earlham interview
Optional interview, and it carries minor weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Optional interview
Optional interview with an admissions counselor, ~30 min, on campus or virtual
How to prepare for Earlham
- Earlham is a Quaker institution , be prepared to discuss collaboration, consensus-building, and community; interviewers respond well to applicants who genuinely reflect on how they engage with others rather than just listing achievements.
- Come with specific questions about Earlham's distinctive programs (e.g., the Wilderness Program, Bonner Scholars, or its international studies emphasis) , demonstrating that you've done real research signals authentic interest to a small college where fit matters.
- Because Earlham's acceptance rate is relatively high, the interview is less about gatekeeping and more about mutual exploration; treat it as a conversation rather than a performance, and be honest about what you're looking for in a college.
- If you cannot interview, show demonstrated interest through campus visits, virtual info sessions, or a thoughtful, specific supplement , Earlham admissions counselors are accessible and value real engagement.
Practice before the real thing
