The George Mason interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview

How to prepare for George Mason
- Visit campus or attend a virtual information session to demonstrate genuine interest , GMU tracks demonstrated interest and it can aid your case for merit scholarships.
- Use the 400-word supplemental essay strategically: it's your primary way to add personal signal that grades and scores cannot convey, especially if you are applying score-optional.
- If targeting the Honors College, treat that separate 100-500 word prompt as its own mini-application , it is reviewed independently and is the closest thing to an 'interview substitute' for competitive recognition.
- Connect with your intended college or program directly (e.g., College of Engineering, School of Business) , faculty or program staff sometimes engage prospective students informally, which can strengthen your file.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
