Georgetown / Interview
The Georgetown interview
Optional interview, and it carries minor weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Optional interview
Optional alumni interview, ~30-45 min, conducted virtually or in person by a Georgetown alum in your area; not available in all regions
How to prepare for Georgetown
- Georgetown's alumni interviews are conducted through the Alumni Admissions Program (AAP) , not all applicants will be offered one, so don't worry if you are not contacted.
- Georgetown has distinct undergraduate schools (Georgetown College, SFS, McDonough, Nursing, etc.) , know clearly why you chose your specific school and connect it to your goals.
- The interview is largely informational and conversational, but alumni do submit a report; treat it as evaluative and prepare to discuss your intellectual interests and Jesuit values around service.
- Avoid treating the Georgetown interview as a generic college interview , Georgetown's identity, community, and mission are distinctive; show you have researched what makes it different from peer schools.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
