GW / Interview
The GW interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered; GWU does not conduct admissions interviews for undergraduate applicants.
How to prepare for GW
- GWU places heavy emphasis on essays , use the 500-word personal statement to convey a clear sense of who you are and why GWU specifically fits your goals (location in DC, specific programs, internship access).
- Demonstrated interest matters: attend virtual or in-person info sessions, log campus visits if possible, and engage with regional admissions reps at college fairs.
- With no interview to rely on, make every written component count , the 'Why GW' angle should connect concretely to DC opportunities, policy/public affairs programs, or other GW-specific resources.
- If applying Early Decision, make the commitment signal work for you by articulating genuine fit in your essays, since GWU tracks ED applications carefully as a sign of serious interest.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
