Haverford / Interview
The Haverford interview
Interview recommended, and it carries moderate weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Interview recommended
Recommended interview with admissions staff (via Zoom) or alumni, ~30-45 min; available from junior spring through early January of senior year
How to prepare for Haverford
- Haverford treats staff and alumni interviews as equally weighted , there is no advantage to waiting for a staff slot over an alumni one.
- The interview is explicitly evaluative, not just informational , treat it seriously and prepare to articulate why Haverford's Honor Code and self-governance model appeal to you specifically.
- Because Haverford is a tight-knit community built on trust, interviewers respond well to students who can discuss intellectual curiosity and collaborative values rather than purely competitive achievements.
- Schedule early (junior spring or fall of senior year) so you have maximum slot availability; slots fill quickly and Early Decision deadlines can leave little margin.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
