HKU / Interview
The HKU interview
Interview by invitation, and it carries significant weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Interview by invitation
By-invitation interview for shortlisted international applicants, ~20-30 min, conducted virtually or on campus, roughly November to January
How to prepare for HKU
- HKU explicitly weights interview performance alongside academics , treat it as a genuine selection stage, not a formality.
- Expect programme-specific questions: for Medicine, Law, or Business shortlists, be ready to discuss why you chose that discipline and how it connects to Hong Kong's context.
- Know your personal statement well , interviewers use it as the basis for questions, so every claim you made should be something you can expand on.
- If invited, respond and confirm promptly; slots fill quickly and late scheduling can limit your options during the November-January window.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
