Lawrence / Interview
The Lawrence interview
Optional interview, and it carries minor weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Optional interview
Optional alumni interview, ~30-45 min, conducted virtually or in your local area by a Lawrence alumnus
How to prepare for Lawrence
- Lawrence is one of the few colleges with a residential conservatory alongside a liberal arts college , know which community you're joining and why that specific structure appeals to you.
- Alumni interviewers are volunteers who care deeply about Lawrence; focus the conversation on intellectual curiosity and fit rather than credentials, since the school values genuine engagement over achievement lists.
- If you're applying to the Conservatory, be ready to articulate how you plan to blend music and liberal arts , that integration is core to Lawrence's identity and alumni will probe for it.
- The interview is informational and carries minor weight, but skipping it without a logistical reason signals low interest at a school where demonstrated interest and fit matter in a small class of ~350.
