Michigan State / Interview
The Michigan State interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered. Admissions decisions are based on academic record, essays, and extracurricular activities.
How to prepare for Michigan State
- Since there is no interview, your single required essay (250-650 words, one of 7 prompt options) is your primary voice , choose the prompt that lets you show genuine character and growth, not just achievement.
- Demonstrate interest through campus visits, attending virtual information sessions, or contacting your regional admissions counselor, as demonstrated interest can be tracked even without an interview.
- MSU uses rolling admissions after February 1, so applying by the November 1 Early Action deadline gives you the best advantage , there is no interview to schedule, so the application itself is your complete package.
- Use your activities list and any optional additional information section to provide context MSU reviewers cannot get from grades alone, since there is no interview to fill in those gaps.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
