Why this college, specifically. Mount Holyoke wants proof you have researched it and can see yourself thriving there. Note: this is one of three optional prompt choices, and you answer only one. The other two are the community/identity prompt and the open fascination prompt.
A women's college with an open curriculum and the Five College Consortium attracts students for very particular reasons. The committee uses this prompt to separate genuine fit from name-recognition. They want to admit students who will actually use what makes the place distinct.
Find a single course, professor, lab, or program in the catalog and connect it to a project or question you already care about.
Write about a feature that fits how you actually work: the honor code, Mountain Day, the open curriculum, the gender focus, or cross-registration at Amherst, Smith, Hampshire, or UMass.
