Mount Holyoke / Interview
The Mount Holyoke interview
Optional interview, and it carries minor weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Optional interview
Optional interview with a Senior Admission Ambassador or alum, ~30-45 min, available on campus or virtually; most take place October-January
How to prepare for Mount Holyoke
- Mount Holyoke explicitly describes interviews as informational rather than evaluative , use it as a two-way conversation to show genuine curiosity about the college and ask substantive questions about academic life and community.
- Emphasize your intellectual interests and how they align with a liberal arts education; interviewers look for students who are engaged learners, not just high achievers.
- Schedule early in the fall of senior year if possible , most interviews happen October through January and slots with on-campus staff or local alums can fill up.
- Because the interview is optional and carries minor weight, if you cannot schedule one do not worry , focus instead on a strong supplemental essay that conveys your voice and fit with Mount Holyoke's mission.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
