NYU / Interview
The NYU interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered for standard undergraduate admissions; some specialized programs (e.g., accelerated BA/DDS) may invite select applicants for interviews on a case-by-case basis.
How to prepare for NYU
- With no interview, your supplemental essay (250 words) does extra work , use it to show genuine intellectual fit with your specific NYU school or program, not just the city.
- Demonstrated interest matters at NYU; attend virtual info sessions, visit campus if possible, and engage with school-specific events for your target program (Stern, Tisch, CAS, etc.).
- Apply Early Decision if NYU is your top choice , the ED acceptance rate is meaningfully higher than RD, and the commitment signals fit that you cannot show through an interview.
- Lean on your recommenders to speak to qualities your essays cannot , NYU reads holistically and teacher/counselor letters can surface what makes you distinctive.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
