The Oregon State interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered. Oregon State University does not conduct admissions interviews for undergraduate applicants.
How to prepare for Oregon State
- OSU is test-optional and reads holistically, so your short written responses (often ~100 words) carry real weight , treat them as targeted pitches, not throwaway answers.
- Demonstrate demonstrated interest through campus visits, virtual info sessions, or contacting your regional admissions counselor, since there is no interview to signal enthusiasm.
- Applying Early Action by November 3 signals genuine interest and gives you a decision earlier, which matters especially for competitive majors like Engineering or Business.
- If you are aiming for the Honors College, note that its acceptance rate is substantially lower than the overall 77% , tailor your responses to show intellectual curiosity and independent thinking.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
