Richmond / Interview
The Richmond interview
Informational interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Informational interview
Informational alumni "Spider Chat," ~15 min, virtual; non-evaluative and does not factor into the admissions decision
How to prepare for Richmond
- Spider Chats are explicitly non-evaluative , use them to learn about Richmond and show genuine curiosity, not to impress an interviewer.
- Because there is no evaluative interview, your essays and activities list do the heavy lifting , invest your energy in the supplemental essay, which asks you to choose from three prompts.
- Demonstrated interest is not tracked at Richmond, so a Spider Chat won't boost your file; sign up only if you genuinely want information about campus life or academics.
- If you receive an invitation to speak with an admission officer directly, treat it seriously , that contact is selective and may carry more weight than a standard Spider Chat.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
