RPI / Interview
The RPI interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered; RPI does not conduct admissions interviews for undergraduate applicants.
How to prepare for RPI
- Focus energy on the two required supplemental essays , the 'Why RPI' prompt (250 words) and the extracurricular prompt (300 words) are your main opportunities to show fit and personality.
- Visit campus or attend a virtual information session to demonstrate interest; RPI does track demonstrated interest and these touchpoints matter more than an interview would.
- If applying to the B.S./M.D. program, note that test scores (SAT/ACT) are required even though RPI is otherwise test-optional , treat those program-specific essays with extra care as that pathway is highly selective.
- Connect with current RPI students or faculty in your intended department through official channels to deepen your understanding of the program, which will strengthen your essays.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
