SLU / Interview
The SLU interview
Optional interview, and it carries minor weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Optional interview
Optional on-campus or virtual interview with an admissions staff member, ~30 min, scheduled by contacting the Office of Admission directly
How to prepare for SLU
- SLU encourages but does not require an interview , scheduling one is an easy way to demonstrate genuine interest at a school where demonstrated interest can matter at the margins.
- Lean into SLU's Jesuit identity: be ready to discuss how your goals connect to service, community, or the university's mission of 'the pursuit of truth for the greater glory of God and the service of humanity'.
- Because SLU has no supplemental essays, the interview is your best opportunity to add color beyond the personal statement , bring a specific story or experience that did not fit in your 650 words.
- Contact the Office of Admission at 314-977-2500 to schedule; walk-in or virtual options are typically available, so there is no excuse to skip it if you are seriously considering SLU.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
