SDSU / Interview
The SDSU interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered. SDSU is a large public university in the Cal State system; admission decisions are made solely on academic record, coursework, and the optional personal insight comments box.
How to prepare for SDSU
- Use the optional ~550-word comments box on Cal State Apply strategically , this is your only space to add context beyond grades, so address anything unusual (grade dip, difficult circumstances, unique background) directly.
- SDSU is test blind, so do not submit SAT/ACT scores; focus your energy on demonstrating a rigorous A-G course load and a strong cumulative GPA, as those are the primary decision factors.
- Show demonstrated interest through campus visits or virtual information sessions where possible , while not formally tracked, familiarity with SDSU's specific programs (e.g. Fowler College of Business, College of Engineering) can sharpen how you write about fit.
- Apply as early as possible within the October 1 - December 1 window; some impacted majors fill quickly and early applicants may receive consideration before space tightens.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
