Sciences Po / Interview
The Sciences Po interview
Interview by invitation, and it carries significant weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Interview by invitation
Online oral interview, ~20-30 min, offered to shortlisted candidates only after the written application review
How to prepare for Sciences Po
- The interview is reserved for shortlisted candidates , your three written essays (1,500-2,000 characters each) determine whether you reach this stage, so treat the essays as the primary hurdle.
- Expect to discuss your motivation for Sciences Po and your two programme choices in depth; interviewers probe whether you genuinely understand each programme's focus rather than applying broadly.
- Sciences Po values interdisciplinary thinking and awareness of current geopolitical and social issues , be ready to discuss a recent event or topic relevant to your intended field of study.
- Conduct the interview in the language in which you applied; if you applied in French, the oral will be in French, so rehearse articulating complex ideas, not just vocabulary.
Practice before the real thing
