The Sheffield interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews for most courses; Medicine (MBChB) and Dentistry (BDS) require an interview as part of their admissions process, conducted on campus or virtually.
How to prepare for Sheffield
- Sheffield selects almost entirely on your UCAS personal statement and predicted/achieved grades, so invest heavily in crafting a focused, subject-specific personal statement that demonstrates genuine academic curiosity.
- Attend Sheffield's open days (usually April and June) , they note engagement and it signals commitment, which can matter for borderline decisions in competitive courses.
- If applying to Medicine or Dentistry, prepare for a structured MMI (Multiple Mini Interview) format: practise ethical scenarios, communication stations, and empathy questions rather than a traditional one-on-one Q&A.
- Check each department's specific entry requirements and any required admissions tests (e.g. UCAT for Medicine) well ahead of the October deadline , these vary significantly by course.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
