St. Gallen / Interview
The St. Gallen interview
Interview required, and it carries significant weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Interview required
Required recorded video interview, ~10 min, 4-6 pre-recorded questions answered asynchronously online; taken on a fixed date (Feb or June round) as part of a two-stage selection process (aptitude test + video interview)
How to prepare for St. Gallen
- The video interview is asynchronous and recorded , there is no live interviewer, so prepare to speak clearly and confidently to a camera on motivation and interests without expecting follow-up prompts.
- Questions focus on motivation and personal interests, not academic knowledge , be specific about why you want to study at HSG and what draws you to business or economics at the graduate level.
- Both rounds (February and June) have fixed, non-negotiable dates for the aptitude test and video interview; register well in advance and treat the schedule as immovable.
- The aptitude test (online reasoning, 70 min) comes the day before the video interview in each round , arrive mentally fresh and do not underestimate it, as both stages are mandatory gates.
