Sydney / Interview
The Sydney interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered for standard undergraduate admission; entry is based on academic results against published entry requirements. Some creative and music programs require auditions or portfolios, which are separate from a traditional admissions interview.
How to prepare for Sydney
- Focus on meeting published academic entry requirements for your chosen course, as admission is primarily merit-based on grades and English proficiency scores.
- For programs requiring a personal statement (e.g. some Creative Arts courses), be specific about your academic and creative goals rather than writing a generic motivational letter.
- If applying for competitive scholarships such as the Sydney International Student Award, craft concise 200-word responses that highlight concrete achievements and reasons for choosing Sydney specifically.
- Demonstrate interest through the application itself , visit information sessions, contact the international admissions team with genuine questions, and ensure your application documents are complete and submitted well before course deadlines.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
