Syracuse / Interview
The Syracuse interview
Optional interview, and it carries minor weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Optional interview
Optional interview with an Admissions representative, ~30 min, virtual (Zoom) only; available late June through late November for fall applicants
How to prepare for Syracuse
- Slots fill up well in advance , register as early as possible once scheduling opens, ideally in summer or early fall
- Complete a campus visit or virtual information session before your interview; Syracuse explicitly recommends this and it gives you better material to discuss
- Use the interview to show specific interest in your intended school or program (Newhouse, Whitman, etc.) , generic answers are a missed opportunity at a school with distinct colleges
- Treat it as a two-way conversation: prepare thoughtful questions about Syracuse that you could not answer from the website, which signals genuine research
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
