Tufts / Interview
The Tufts interview
Optional interview, and it carries minor weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Optional interview
Optional alumni interview, ~30-45 min, virtual or in your area; conducted by alumni volunteers or senior student interviewers (no on-campus or admissions-officer interviews available)
How to prepare for Tufts
- Request the interview through your Applicant Status Portal after submitting your application , it is not available before submission and is not guaranteed due to limited alumni availability.
- Treat it as a conversation rather than a formal interview: alumni want to learn who you are beyond your application, so be genuine about your interests and goals rather than reciting your resume.
- Come prepared with specific reasons why Tufts fits you , the 'Why Tufts' question almost always comes up, and vague answers about 'great programs' are a common pitfall.
- Prepare thoughtful questions for your interviewer about their own Tufts experience; this signals genuine curiosity and makes the conversation more memorable.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
