UBC / Interview
The UBC interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered. Admissions decisions are based on academic grades and the Personal Profile short-answer questions submitted through EducationPlannerBC.
How to prepare for UBC
- Put serious effort into the Personal Profile: UBC's four short-answer prompts (up to 2,100 characters each) are the closest thing to an interview , they carry real weight, especially for competitive programs like Computer Science and Engineering.
- Be specific and concrete in your Personal Profile responses. UBC evaluators read thousands of applications, so vague claims about leadership or curiosity are far less effective than a focused story with a clear outcome.
- Campus visits and info sessions do not factor into the admissions decision, but attending (or watching recorded webinars) can help you tailor your Personal Profile to reflect genuine familiarity with UBC programs and resources.
- Apply early if possible: UBC releases rolling first-round offers, and applying in the October-November window gives you the best shot at an early decision, especially for high-demand faculties.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
