UC Irvine / Interview
The UC Irvine interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered. UC Irvine does not conduct admissions interviews for first-year applicants.
How to prepare for UC Irvine
- Focus energy on the four UC Personal Insight Questions (PIQs) , these 350-word essays are your primary voice in the application and carry significant weight.
- Visit campus or attend a UCI virtual info session to demonstrate genuine interest, even though demonstrated interest is not formally tracked by the UC system.
- Research specific programs, faculty, or research centers at UCI that align with your goals, and weave that specificity into your PIQs to show fit.
- Since SAT/ACT scores are test-free and ignored, ensure your GPA, course rigor, and extracurricular narrative tell a complete story without leaning on test scores.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
