UCLA / Interview
The UCLA interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered; UCLA does not conduct admissions interviews for undergraduate applicants.
How to prepare for UCLA
- Focus your energy on the 4 Personal Insight Questions (PIQs) , each 350 words , since these are the primary way you convey personality and voice to readers.
- Demonstrate demonstrated interest through campus visits, virtual info sessions, or attending UCLA-hosted events, even though it is not formally tracked by the UC system.
- Research specific UCLA programs, departments, or unique resources relevant to your intended major, and weave these into your PIQs to show fit beyond just 'I want to go to a good school.'
- The UC application is shared across all nine campuses, so tailor your responses to highlight attributes that resonate with UCLA's strengths (e.g., research opportunities, location, specific schools like Samueli Engineering or Anderson).
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
