Union / Interview
The Union interview
Optional interview, and it carries moderate weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Optional interview
Optional on-campus interview with admissions staff or virtual alumni interview; ~30-45 min; alumni interviews available Sept 1-Dec 15 for US-based applicants; required for Chinese and Vietnamese applicants
How to prepare for Union
- Union offers two interview tracks , an on-campus interview with an admissions officer and a virtual alumni interview; try to do one, as the college states interviews can play an important role in the final decision.
- Come prepared to discuss specific academic interests and how Union's interdisciplinary curriculum (including its term-abroad programs and engineering-liberal arts mix) fits your goals , generic answers will not stand out.
- Alumni interviewers are coordinated by the admissions office via Zoom; treat it as professionally as an on-campus visit and prepare questions that show genuine research into Union's programs.
- Note the deadline: alumni interview requests for ED I are due by December 10, so do not wait until the application deadline to schedule.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
