UCD / Interview
The UCD interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered. Admission for almost all courses is determined entirely by CAO points (grades); non-EU applicants are assessed on academic records and English-language requirements directly by UCD.
How to prepare for UCD
- UCD admissions for most courses are purely grade-driven , your Leaving Cert results, A-levels, or equivalent qualifications are the only factor, so focus all energy on academic performance.
- Medicine is the sharp exception: non-EU applicants must submit a personal statement (max two pages) and sit the HPAT or equivalent test, so prepare for that process well in advance of the January deadline.
- For non-EU applicants, apply early (well before the 1 July recommended deadline if you need a student visa) , rolling admissions mean later applications face fewer available places.
- Demonstrate interest through UCD's open days and subject information events rather than through any interview channel, as these give you context to strengthen your application for direct-entry courses.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
