Cape Town / Interview
The Cape Town interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered; admission is based on NSC subject scores (best 6), NBT results for select faculties, and a statement of motivation for Fine Art.
How to prepare for Cape Town
- UCT's offer decisions hinge almost entirely on your NSC (or equivalent) subject scores , focus energy on maximising your best six subjects, especially the faculty-specific required subjects.
- For competitive programmes like Health Sciences, Engineering, Commerce, and LLB, sit the NBT (National Benchmark Tests) as early as possible since results are required and cutoffs are tight.
- International applicants should apply as close to the 31 July deadline as possible with certified transcripts ready, and confirm equivalency of their qualifications early since UCT converts foreign results to an equivalent NSC score.
- Use the optional statement of motivation (required only for Fine Art) or your application personal details to convey genuine interest in your specific programme , there is no interview to supplement your written profile.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
