Iowa / Interview
The Iowa interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered for general undergraduate admission
How to prepare for Iowa
- Iowa uses the Regent Admission Index (RAI), which weighs GPA, core course completion, class rank, and test scores , focus your energy on presenting a strong academic record rather than seeking interview opportunities.
- Submit the optional personal essay (up to 650 words via Common App) since it is your primary channel to show personality and context beyond numbers.
- Apply by the November Early Action deadline to demonstrate interest and receive an earlier decision, as Iowa does use demonstrated interest as a soft factor.
- If applying to a specialized program such as Nursing or the Carver College of Medicine, check that program's specific requirements separately , those programs do conduct their own interviews.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
