The South Carolina interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered. The University of South Carolina does not conduct admissions interviews for undergraduate applicants.
How to prepare for South Carolina
- Visit campus or attend a virtual information session to demonstrate interest , UofSC tracks demonstrated interest and it can strengthen your file.
- Your Common App personal statement is the primary place to show personality and fit; use it to tell a specific, memorable story rather than a resume recap.
- If applying to the Honors College, treat that application separately , it has its own deadlines (Nov 15) and expects stronger evidence of intellectual ambition.
- Connect your essay or activities to what UofSC specifically offers (e.g., the Magellan Scholar research program or your intended college) to show genuine fit rather than a generic application.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
