UT Austin / Interview
The UT Austin interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered. UT Austin does not conduct admissions interviews for undergraduate applicants.
How to prepare for UT Austin
- Demonstrate interest through campus visits or UT Austin info sessions, as demonstrated interest can matter at large publics even without interviews.
- Focus your energy on Topic A (the main personal statement, 500-700 words) and the short answers , these are your primary voice in the application.
- Texas residents admitted under the Top 10% Rule are auto-admitted to UT Austin, so know your class rank and which major you are applying to directly.
- Research your intended major closely: some UT Austin programs (like McCombs, CNS, or Cockrell Engineering) are more competitive and have separate requirements or lower acceptance rates.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
