UW / Interview
The UW interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered. UW does not conduct admissions interviews for undergraduate applicants.
How to prepare for UW
- UW explicitly states it does not consider demonstrated interest , focus your energy on writing strong, specific essays tailored to the UW application prompts rather than trying to signal enthusiasm through outreach.
- The UW uses its own application (not the Common App) with a single required essay , treat that essay as your primary voice; it carries significant weight in lieu of any interview.
- Research specific programs and majors carefully, as UW admits to the major (or to a general category that makes later entry to competitive majors harder) , show clear academic purpose in your written materials.
- If you have additional context to share (hardship, unusual circumstances, or gaps), use the optional 200-word additional information section , there is no interview to clarify things in person.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
