Waterloo / Interview
The Waterloo interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No personal interviews offered; Engineering and some competitive programs require a video assessment or online skills test submitted with the Admission Information Form (AIF).
How to prepare for Waterloo
- Complete the Admission Information Form (AIF) with care , it functions as Waterloo's substitute for an interview, asking four short-answer questions (~150 words each) about activities, interests, and motivations. It carries significant weight.
- Be specific about extracurriculars and work experience in the AIF; Waterloo's engineering and CS evaluators value demonstrated technical curiosity and self-directed projects over generic leadership claims.
- If applying to Engineering, submit the AIF and any required video by January 30 , missing this deadline can cost you an offer even with strong grades.
- Show demonstrated interest through campus tours, information sessions, or attending Waterloo-run events; the school tracks engagement and it signals genuine fit for a program-specific community.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
