WPI / Interview
The WPI interview
Optional interview, and it carries minor weight in the decision. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
Optional interview
Optional interview available on campus during a visit, ~30 min, informational in nature
How to prepare for WPI
- WPI's interview is informational rather than evaluative , use it to ask genuine questions about the project-based curriculum (the WPI Plan) and Major Qualifying Projects, not just to impress the interviewer.
- Be ready to discuss why you are drawn to STEM and how you learn best , WPI's pedagogy is hands-on and interdisciplinary, so connect your interests to that model specifically.
- The interview is tied to a campus visit, so schedule it as part of an in-person tour if geography allows; it signals demonstrated interest at a school where yield matters.
- If you cannot visit, focus demonstrated interest through the supplemental essay and direct outreach to admissions rather than worrying about missing the interview.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
