UVA / Interview
The UVA interview
No admissions interview. Here is how it works and how to prepare.
No admissions interview
No interviews offered , UVA does not conduct admissions interviews for undergraduate applicants.
How to prepare for UVA
- Demonstrate interest through demonstrated engagement with UVA's specific schools and programs , the "Why UVA" framing matters in the application itself.
- Visit Grounds (UVA's term for campus) if possible, or attend virtual info sessions; UVA tracks demonstrated interest and it can carry weight.
- Focus energy on the supplement essays , UVA's school-specific prompts (e.g., for Engineering or Nursing) are where admissions readers learn about fit beyond the Common App.
- Research UVA's unique culture and traditions (the Honor Code, student self-governance, the Lawn) and weave authentic knowledge into your essays rather than generic praise.
Practice before the real thing
Rehearse real admissions-interview questions and get an honest read on your answers, what an interviewer hears, where you sound generic, and what to sharpen. We coach you; we never script you.
